Attention Allergy Patients

Please stop taking antihistamines 5-7 days prior to your first appointment.

Antihistamines will interfere with your allergy testing.

If your symptoms are severe and you feel you cannot stop your antihistamines, please continue them and contact our office to inform the Allergy staff.

  • DO NOT TAKE ANY ANTIHISTAMINES INCLUDING:
    • Diphenhydramine (Benadryl)
    • Loratadine (Claritin)
    • Desloratadine (Clarinex)
    • Cetirizine (Zyrtec)
    • Fexofenadine (Allegra)
    • Chlorpheniramine
    • Hydroxyzine
    • Azekastine (Astepro, Astelin)
    • Doxylamine
    • Levocetirizine (Xyzal)
    • Famotidine (Pepcid)
    • Cimetidine (Tagamet)

These medications may cause falsely negative skin tests results.

Patient Reminder:
• Continue to take asthma medications as prescribed.
• Bring all your medications to your appointment.
• Plan for your appointment to last 60-90 minutes.
